Using GradeA you can also take attendance for your class if you want. On the Course Settings tab, check the list of Attendance Statuses on the right side. If you have a GradeA file created with version 1 of GradeA you will need to add your statuses. GradeA files created with version 2.0 and higher of GradeA start with the statuses Present, Absent, Late, and Excused. The first status in list is the initial status assigned to each student when you add a new date. You can drag and drop to re-order the statuses. Press the Add Status button to add a new status. You can select statuses and press the Delete Statuses button to delete them. The three checkboxes In Attendance, Penalty, and Email Missing have the same meaning as they do in my iOS Attendance app. For GradeA, only the In Attendance box is needed but the other check boxes are there for compatibility with the iOS Attendance app. You should check the In Attendance box for statuses that indicate the student is in attendance that day. The total of statuses with the In Attendance check box is used to calculate the number of students in the room in case you want to match it with a head count. Switch to the Take Attendance tab. Specify the date and time and press the Add Date button. Select the first student in the list. Press the space bar to see the list of statuses and press the up and down arrows to select the appropriate status for that student and then press the space bar again, followed by the down arrow to move to the next student. You can also use the mouse to select statuses.
