Once you have your attend.db file on your Mac, you can use GradeA or
the free GradeA demo version to add a course and names to your iOS
Attendance app. See the other video for how to get your attend.db file
onto your Mac. If you emailed the attend.db file to yourself, open the
email on your Mac and save the attend.db file to a folder such as your
Downloads folder.

If you saved your attend.db file to Dropbox, I recommend you duplicate
the attend.db file and copy it rather than repeatedly updating the
file in your Dropbox folder. Using the Finder go to your
Dropbox/Attendance folder, select the attend.db file and control-click
or right click on it and select duplicate. Then drag the original
attend.db file somewhere such as your Downloads folder.

Launch GradeA. Open a new file. I'll open the Preferences and specify
the location of my attend.db file. This only needs to be done once as
the preferences are remembered.

On the Course Settings tab, I'll enter a name for the iOS Attendance
course and press the Add New Course button and select that new course
from the list. The selected course is the one to which the names will
be added.

Now I'll switch to the Add/Edit Students tab add five names to the
course. You must include an ID value that is unique for each student
to merge your data with the iOS Attendance app.

Switch to the Take Attendance tab and press the Automatic Merge
button. This adds the students to the attend.db file for the selected
course.

Now switch back to the Add/Edit students tab. Select a student and
press Cmd-A to select all the students and press the Delete button to
delete them. You can now add five more students to the GradeA file.

Switch to the Take Attendance tab and press the Automatic Merge
button. This adds the students to the attend.db file. The Automatic
Merge button never deletes data from GradeA or Attendance so the
original five students are still in the attend.db file along with the
second group of five students. You can repeat this process until you
have addedd all your students to the attend.db file.

If you are using the full version of GradeA, just add all your
students at once and then use the Automatic Merge button to add them
all to your attend.db file. See the video for restoring your attend.db
